Rocío Chávez is one of the co-founders of Language for Life. She is responsible for developing new course programs for professionals, university students and other individuals who wish to learn Spanish and immerse themselves in Spanish and Latin American culture.
Rocío Chávez grew up in Seville and obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics from the University of Seville. Focused on continuous professional development through seminars, conferences and workshops, Rocío has taken specialized courses teaching Spanish as a second language at the University of Barcelona, University of Seville and International House (Barcelona). Rocío has worked in education for over 15 years. Her experience involves teaching Spanish to high school and university students, business professionals and seniors at different language centers in Seville and in collaboration with a number of international study abroad programs. She has had the privilege of working with students of all ages and from up to 30 countries, such as France, Ireland, Russia, UK, Italy, South Korea, China, Japan, Australia, Morocco, and the United States. Rocío’s students capture fluency levels from basic through advanced (A1-C2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages). She also has taught intensive and regular academic courses focused on Spanish Grammar and Expression, Conversation, Spanish and Latin American Literature, Spanish Culture, Spanish for the Health Industry and Business Spanish. Rocío enjoys hand-tailoring her curriculum to the needs of her students. She follows a communicative approach in her classes, challenging her students with real-life situations, in which they would need to use the grammar structures and vocabulary. Rocío's language register captures both the Castillian and Latin American dialects of Spanish, and her Peruvian background has also increased her exposure and familiarity to Latin American culture, having visited the country various times. Rocío is interested in learning about new cultures, and this is one of the reasons she has travelled to a number of countries across the globe, including the United States where some of her relatives live. She is passionate about her work and she loves to share her wide knowledge of Spanish language and culture.
